Tesla Selects JonwayEV's IONAxs for State-of-the-Art Gigafactory Berlin
IONAxs is now Tesla‑validated
May 9, 2026 – Tesla Germany has selected JonwayEV as an official supplier and placed a first order of 14 light‑duty electric trucks to support internal material flow at Gigafactory Berlin‑Brandenburg.
The vehicles, based on JonwayEV’s IONA XS platform, will be configured with a 23 kWh battery pack, a closed cargo box, a 6.6 kW onboard charger, and all‑season tires. The units will be finished in stealth grey. Deliveries are scheduled for the second half of 2026.
The selection followed a multi‑stage evaluation by Tesla’s logistics and procurement teams, who assessed vehicle performance, service response times, and operational safety. The agreement also mandates local aftersales support, which JonwayEV will provide through its German partner Vecturo.
The announcement comes less than two weeks after Gigafactory Berlin produced its one‑millionth drive units on April 29 — a milestone that underscores the scale of the facility where the IONA XS electric mini trucks will operate daily.
“The evaluation went far beyond specification sheets and brochure,” said Alex Wang, CEO of JonwayEV. “Tesla team tested every component of our vehicle and our support network. Passing that process confirms that our platform is ready for the world’s most demanding factory environments. We are proud to play a small part in Tesla’s mission — moving parts efficiently inside Giga Berlin so they can keep building the future.”

JonwayEV’s selection as a Tesla supplier marks a turning point for the company, which has focused on electrifying last‑mile delivery and municipal fleets since inception. The company says the industrial logistics segment — particularly high‑frequency, zero‑emission material movement inside large factories — is now reality.
"JonwayEV's goal is to electrify the diesel‑powered light commercial vehicles segment worldwide"
The IONAxs is built for many use cases such as last‑mile delivery, municipalities, and factory environments — tight turning radius, a payload capacity that handles heavy components, zero‑emission operation, and a local aftersales structure provided through JonwayEV's partner. Those specifications matched exactly what Tesla required.
